Pros: Excellent customer service, reduces waste, clutter and cleaning. Simple. GORGEOUS!
Cons: For high-volume products like mouthwash, requires frequent refills.
The Bottom Line: This inexpensive, high-quality, versatile product reduces the drudgery of bathroom cleaning. It also imposes order (no more looking for the shampoo bottle), reduces waste, and looks great!

| Ralleia's Full Review: Dispenser 1 Clear Choice Chrome Single Chamber Soa... |
I have long been a fan of products by Better Living. The company produces a number of different wall-mounted dispenser products, which can be used to dispense liquid soaps, shampoos, and similar liquids for your bathroom or kitchen. I've owned one of their Dispenser IV products for about 10 years, and it has performed faithfully, dispensing soap, shampoo and conditioners on my shower wall while eliminating the clutter of all those bottles! I had to replace the pump on one of the four dispensers once, which was simple and cost me about two bucks, plus shipping. I decided to plan ahead and purchased a few spare pumps at the same time.
Several months ago, I purchased the Clear Choice dispenser in chrome to replace another Better Living dispenser (the Aviva) which had developed chronic leaks.
The Clear Choice dispenser is a tapered rectangular unit measuring approximately 3" x 3" x 7.5" tall. The storage portion is translucent plastic. The lid and the base (which contains the pump) are chrome plastic. At first I thought it appeared too rectangular since I was used to the rounded Avivas, but over time I've grown to find the straighter lines of the Clear Choice to be gorgeous. There's also less chrome to keep polished.
The Clear Choice can hold 16 fluid ounces in its storage compartment. A separate mounting piece attaches to the wall or mirror, and the dispenser slides onto a rail on this mounting piece and locks into position. The unit comes with several pieces of 3M double-stick tape for fast and easy mounting, but also has holes for screws in the event the surface is too rugged.
To use the dispenser, simply depress the pump button. Dispensing the required amount much easier to control this way than pouring liquids or squeezing bottles, minimizing waste. It's also much easier to find your personal hygiene products because they're attached to the wall, so they can't get lost or migrate to another part of the house. I can use this dispenser even with low light and soap in my eyes because all I need to do is push a button. The pump must be primed the first time the dispenser is filled--the process is easy.
The dispenser can be used for solutions ranging in viscosity from liquid to reasonably-thick shampoo/conditioner/lotion. Meaning, if it you turn you conditioner bottle upside-down and the contents don't budge, then it won't dispense! I think that only cold creams and extremely thick conditioners fall in this category.
Each dispenser comes with pre-printed labels so that the user may mark the contents of the dispenser to cut down on any confusion. The pre-printed labels available are: Shampoo (2), Conditioner (2), Soap (2), Shower Gel (2), Lotion, Body Wash, Shaving Gel, Shampoo Plus, Sunscreen, and Mouthwash. Several additional language labels are included--I recognize French and German.
The unit comes with a Lifetime Pump warranty and a two-year warranty on all other parts. As mentioned earlier I've only had one pump failure in a decade of use of other Better Living products. The Clear Choice pumps look identical. I am using this dispenser for mouthwash. On two occasions after I first installed the unit, the pump apparently did not "re-seat" properly and dripped a small amount of mouthwash. This has not happened for two months, so I hope it has resolved. Just in case, I keep the mouthwash cup under the spout. If it happens again, I'll replace the pump and post my results here.
I haven't had to call Better Living customer service on this product. I did have to call them several times on issues with the Aviva product, and they were always terrifically helpful. The staff would discuss the product with me, and if a replacement part was needed they shipped it promptly with no charge. Better Living has the best customer service I've ever dealt with.
Dis-assembly of the Clear Choice to check the parts is delightfully simple. When I had to take the Aviva apart I actually had to read the instructions AND use a screwdriver. GASP!
I'm quite delighted with this unit. It's very inexpensive--I bought mine on-line for $12 plus shipping. Incidentally, it also comes in 2-unit and 3-unit models, also very reasonably priced, or with white trim instead of chrome. The white trim is slightly less expensive than the chrome and requires less cleaning.
