Pros: Convenient location for downtown business. Reasonably comfortable room.
Cons: Exercise center is pathetic.
The Bottom Line: Conveniently located downtown with comfortable rooms for a typical business hotel. OK for a one or two day stay, but limited restaurant options and undersized exercise room.

| Prim8Pal's Full Review: Doubletree Hotel Houston-Allen Center |
The Doubletree is your typical corporate hotel with a comfortably sized room, cable tv with about 25 channels and good internet access (for a fee). The desk in the room was adequately sized for working, although the position was not great if you're trying to watch tv and work at the same time.
The hotel shuttle will take you to nearby restaurants within about a 10-15 minute drive, although this is not unique among downtown hotels. The hotel has a casual restaurant or you can eat at the bar. Food prices were reasonable and portions filling, although there was nothing adventurous on the menu. (However, if you like gourmet quality coffee as an eye-opener in the morning, this is not the place for you). Free USA Today and Wall Street Journals are available at the concierge desk. Most of the staff seemed quite friendly.
The one negative on this hotel is the tiny exercise room. There was one weight machine which allowed two different types of weight lifting exercises, two bicycle machines, a stair stepper, and a running machine. These were crammed into a small room (looks like a converted hotel room). Not well suited for someone who wants to stay fit.
