| ssjakira1's Full Review: Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion Personal Care |
That's right. I enjoy this body lotion so much, I'll sing about it.
A while back I signed up to get a free sample from Dove now and then. Considering I've used their products in the past with a fairly large degree of success, I'm always open to trying out new goodies. Especially if it's skin friendly. What they sent was a small travel-size Dove Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion. What a mouthful.
For comparison, in the past I've used all manner of body lotions. Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret (which I will never do again), brands of body butter I don't remember, and so forth. Never before have I found the kind of reception for a lotion as my skin has had with the Dove Cream Oil lotion. I used up that little couple ounce tube and made arrangements to go out and buy myself a larger 13.5 ounce pump.
The Cream Oil is Dove's newest hot ticket - the concept of oil inclusion can also be found in their body wash. It's a mix of "oil and rich hydrating cream" as the back of the bottle says. While the ingredients doesn't actually list "oil" anything, I'm sure the combination of items (most of which I can't pronounce) in the list creates an oil-like substance that's meant to help keep your skin hydrated. Having said that, now I'm sure you'll be panicking, wondering if it's going to leave your skin all oily for the rest of the day. Don't worry - while it does have a semi-oily sheen going on, it's not that bad. At all. In fact, I forget about it right after hopping into my pants. It's like any other moisturizer really, just takes a little time to soak into your skin and then after that you're good to go.
Of course, if you already have oily skin, or just skin that isn't all that dry, you don't need this particular lotion. My skin seems to have issues - I never really thought of it as extra dry, just sort of your normal dry. But on occasion my arms would get unhappy red areas of flaky skin and my legs would itch like crazy. I had one winter where it seemed like no moisturizer worked and the only way to stop the itching was to get a cat to use my legs as a scratching post and tear them to ribbons. (I didn't, but that was the year I used the Victoria's Secret lotion, hence why I'm never using them again. Smells nice, works like crap). But this stuff? Oh ho! A handful of uses and I haven't seen those unhappy little patches since. My legs are smooth and relaxed and I'm just pleased as punch with this lotion.
Even better, I don't even have to use it all that often. I probably should, if I want the best results (baby soft skin), but I'm comfortable using it at the most opportune moment, right out of the shower when my skin's at its most vulnerable, having all its natural oils recently stripped and gasping for new moisture. Slather on the legs and arms and ta-da! All done and ready for the day. If I need any extra between those times (what with it turning to winter outside, couple that with sitting in front of a fire and working in a bookstore), then a little spot-checking does the job.
I rave about this moisturizer because it's worked so well for me. If you find your moisturizer just isn't cutting it and you have dry skin crying out for more, give this one a try. I'll be baffled if you're disappointed.
