baby_pie's Full Review: Dr Scholl's Scholls Foot Softening Balm with Shea ...
I'm a big fan of Dr. Scholl's For Her Pumice Foot Scrub and while purchasing it last time I noticed Dr. Scholl's Foot Softening Balm with Shea Butter sitting next to it and decided to give it a try.
The price at Wal-Mart is approximately $5.89, which I think is reasonable for a foot balm. It's a little more expensive at drugstores, however I have picked it up there for about $6.50 once. You get 4oz/113g of product.
Foot Softening Balm with Shea Butter comes in an attractive round purple tub with a screw off lid. You have to dip your fingers in the tub to get the balm out which some people may not like, however I don't really mind.
Dr. Scholls claims:
"Specially formulated to moisturize and rehydrate extremely dry and callused skin on your feet and heels.
Contains a deep moisturizing blend of shea butter, alpha hydroxy and glycerin to leave your skin ultra soft and smooth. Contains soothing lavender to pamper tired, aching feet."
This balm is white and is on the thick and creamy side. The scent is fairly strong and smells of lavender. Although I'm not really a fan of lavender in general, I really like the scent of this product for some reason. I detect a sort of minty-lavender scent, which is nice and fresh, although floral. If you don't like products that have a strong smell you may not enjoy this balm as it's not subtle. The scent lingers for a couple of hours afterwards, so you may not want to apply it to elbows or knees if you're going to be wearing perfume for instance.
As creamy as this balm is, I find it very easy to apply into the skin. I use it on my heels, feet, knees and elbows at least once a day (evening). On a good day I apply in the morning also.
Because it is such a thick balm, comparable to a body butter, it does take a bit of time to fully absorb which is why I don't always have time (or patience) to sit around and wait in the mornings before putting on my shoes. I'd say it takes about 10 minutes to absorb, which is fine if I'm just sitting around at night watching TV.
My feet (and other areas I apply it to) feel instantly softer once I put it on. However once it's finally absorbed my feet feel very soft, smooth and fresh. They even look better. These results seem to last and since I use this balm at least once a day my feet continually look and feel smooth and hydrated. This is one of those products that I think you have to use daily to keep experiencing the results.
This is a great quality product that delivers wonderful results. I'm a new fan and plan to keep using it all summer long.
