The Bottom Line: Sam Raimi returns to the Evil Dead style of thriller movie that is as gross as it is scary. It's good, but you may want to wait for the DVD.

I was really excited when I heard that Sam Raimi, writer/director for the Evil Dead movies, also wrote and directed Drag Me to Hell. With this in mind, I went into the movie expecting a somewhat comical type of horror movie and that is exactly what I got.
Plot
Christine Brown is a loan officer at a bank. She is in competition for an assistant manager position against a newer, more aggressive employee at her bank. When an old woman whose home is in foreclosure comes into the bank to beg for an extension, Christine refuses to grant the extension to help get her closer to that assistant manager position. The woman places a curse on Christine for shaming her giving her 3 days to save herself from being dragged to hell.
Cast
I think that Alison Lohman played a great Christine Brown. She has this sweet angelic face that helps play up how “innocent” she is in the situation and undeserving of such a horrible curse. I love Justin Long in everything that he’s in whether it’s the PC vs. Mac commercials, Accepted, Dodgeball, or Waiting. He does a great job portraying Clay Dalton, Christine’s yuppie boyfriend. I think that Lorna Raver is the real stand out actor for this movie playing the part of Mrs. Ganush, the old woman. Her every move grossed me out. In every scene she was in, I was either gagging or scared.

Verdict
I really liked this movie, but as we were leaving the theater my boyfriend just kept saying “We should have went to see Terminator Salvation”. I have to agree with him about that. Drag Me to Hell is a good movie, but it is not a movie that makes you feel like you HAVE to see it in theaters. Keep this movie in mind for a rental, but if you’re going to go out and spend big bucks to see something in the movie theater, you might find yourself disappointed with Drag Me to Hell. I really like supernatural types of scary movies so this was a good one for me. I always have to look away in scary movies when they are bloody and gory, but for this movie what it lacked in blood and gore, it made up for in other disgusting bodily fluids. I did find myself laughing at times, but there were plenty of times that I did jump in my seat from being scared.
