About Me: So much I want to write about....so little time!

These are NOT my favorite Diapers

Written: Mar 01 '00
Pros:cloth like cover, Sesame Street
Cons:leak, tape tears

After reading several negative epinions about Drypers and very few positive one, I decided to try them anyway. I guess it was partly because I had a coupon and they were on sale (which gave us a really good price) and partially because I just had to see for myself how they would work. So, my 7 month old just started wearing Drypers this week. I didn't try them earlier because I could not find the small size Drypers in any of the stores where I shopped and she is just now fitting into the medium size that I could find.

I liked the Sesame Street tape on the diapers. But, is that enough to like a diaper? I liked the soft outer cover of Drypers. I liked the fact that they are hypoallergenic because my baby has VERY sensitive skin. After wearing them for several days, I was glad to see that her skin was pink and healthy looking.

BUT, here's what I don't like and it seems to be a major problem. They leak!! My baby is just 12 pounds but the diapers seem to fit her body. However, the very first Dryper I put on her, an hour later, her clothes were soaked all around the diaper area. Why is that? I tried several more diapers and the same thing happened about 50% of the time. While she was wearing the Drypers, I found that I changed her much more frequently in fear that if I didn't, she would wet her clothing again (and I don't have the time to do all the extra laundry that would entail).

I also found that when I tried to re-adjust the tapes on this diaper, the diaper would tear. Once stuck, you'd better be happy with where you had placed it because it could not be pulled off without tearing. It was also a problem when trying to take the diaper off of the baby. It was not easy because the Sesame Street part would try to peel off with the sticky part and then I'd have to pry it off and it was a mess!

I have gone back to the other brand of diapers that I was using before Drypers (see previous epinions)--Pampers (I still find that they are the best). Yes, there are some positive things about Drypers, but I can't be doing 3 loads of laundry every day because all the clothes all day long are wet. And, I'm sure that it is not comfortable for the baby.

In this case, the positives do not outweigh the negatives. I do not recommend Drypers even if there is a sale and you have a coupon. You will wind up paying the same amount as other brands because you will use twice as many and you will do twice as much laundry.
