Pros: Good, full, clean flavor, minimal aftertaste
Cons: Despite being more $$ than grocery store, a good deal
The Bottom Line: A good middle brow coffee that makes no aspersions for being upscale. Instead it provides good flavor and value.

| alanbweaver's Full Review: Dunkin Donuts Original Blend |
I don't know how much you can write in a coffee review. The cup either tastes good or it doesn't! It is Arabica beans and is a good quality blend. For some reason, it always tastes watery in the store but at home I like it better. The taste is good. It is not a heavy taste, it is on the light side, quite the opposite of Starbucks. Either you love or hate Starbucks. Although this blend does not have the "burnt" taste of Starbucks, it is smooth but with a nice flavor that is on the lighter side. That is not a bad thing. In fact, the lighter roasts are higher in caffeine than the darker roasts (longer roasting reduces caffeine content).
Compared to the other brands of coffee, it is less expensive. It also comes in a full pound bag (rather than 12 oz) so even if it seems a tad expensive, it really isn't. (You've got to use your unit pricing capabilities when deciding on coffees nowadays as they all come in different weights now)
It lists for approximately $8 per pound now which is considerably higher than just a couple of years ago. However, there are promotions during the year where you can get 2 lbs for $10-11 (depending on where you live) so there is a cost savings there.
You can get it either whole bean or ground. I tend to grind the beans as it keeps them fresher longer. However, if you consume coffee heavily, it may be easier to get it ground. It keeps for about 2-3 weeks in the bag.
I drink the caffeinated version 95% of the time. So don't ask me about decaf or the "fancy" flavors which I do not care for anymore. Coffee should taste like coffee, not vanilla or chocolate or hazelnut. Nor should it be sweetened wherein the flavor is destroyed with a cloying sugary flavor. That is my own pesonal opinion.
Dunkin Donuts occasionally gets criticized for being "downscale." When you get the coffee, you're in a pink and gray store with bright lights and no ambiance. But it is cheaper than the coffee house brands and blends. It may not be as complex or marketed as nicely but their coffee is darned good and is an American staple.
