Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Poor sidewall strength, only moderate grip, poor wet performance
The Bottom Line: Generally I would recommend these for the price, but if you are looking for some really good performance, I would trade up to the Pirellis or Yokos. Happy driving!

| led_zec's Full Review: Dunlop Sport 8000 Passenger/Performance Tire |
Well, I cannot say that this is really a bad tire. But it isn't anything to award blue ribbons to or to install on a truly high performance automobile. I have had two sets of these tires on my Volvo V70 T-5 wagon and have been moderately please with them. The price is generally great on these tires, which makes them more attractive.
I have compared these to Pirelli PZero Assymetricals, and Yokohama AVS sport tires. I would say these generally underperform those tires. They are quieter than the Yokos, but louder (in terms of road and handling noise) than the Pirelli's. Only the Pirellis performed worse than the Dunlops in wet weather. The grip provided by these tires is reasonable, even when pushed hard in cornering, but it does not provide the "feel" or confidence that the other two tires do. Also, they wear very quickly -- my circumstances are extreme (up and down about 1800 feet of elevation daily on windy roads at high speeds), but I only get 15-18k per set.
Generally I would recommend these for the price, but if you are looking for some really good performance, I would trade up to the Pirellis or Yokos. Happy driving!
