BE CAREFUL! DUX DOESN'T STAND BEHIND BEDS WITH DEFECTS.

Pros: A GREAT sleep for the first 4 years.
Cons: Expensive & doesn't hold up.
The Bottom Line: If you can afford to replace your entire bed every few years, it's a wonderful bed.

We tried many, many beds and were not happy until we decided to get the DUX bed. We originally got the cotton "topper" and for the first 4 years were in heaven! Then the topper wore out (which is as they said it would) and we bought a new one, only this time got the one with
a latex center which they say will last for 15 years unlike the cotton/4 years. New cotton topper is $1300, the latex
a few hundred more. After a year on this latex topper, we were not happy, as you lose the feeling of the independent springs with this firmer piece between you & the springs, which is what makes the DUX so comfortable. So, we spent yet another $1,300 for another cotton topper. After a few days on this new topper, I started waking up in the morning with a terrible backache.
They tell you that you will NEVER NEED A NEW MATTRESS AND THAT IT IS GUARANTEED FOR 20 YEARS. After 5 years, our mattress has a depression like a CANOE ! We now have to
sleep with our heads at the foot end, otherwise we wake up
with backaches from the depression.
The DUX people came to see our bed and said that yes, they
can feel the depression, but the springs are not broken, so the best that they can do for us is to have their man turn our bed around and attach the headboard to the other end.
I often read while sitting on the bed. According to DUX,
this is fine. But I think this might be what permanently depressed the bed more. I weight about 150 pounds, and don't jump on the bed, or in anyway abuse the bed....., so
even if they reverse the bed, I won't feel as if I can sit and read, as if the bed gets another depression, there will not be anywhere that we can sleep without getting backaches.
They say that this is a rare occurrence. If so, you would think that they would be happy to replace the mattress and keep their customers happy after they have spent over $8,000 in 6 years.
I am very disappointed in their response to our problem. I really thought that with a 20 year warrantee that they would certainly take care of any problems within the first 6 years. Their representative
was very personable and said that she could definitely feel the depression, which was even worse when the topper was on than when she laid on just the mattress.
According to their brochure, "Built to last. In a conventional hard bed, springs tend to sag over time. You may have been instructed to flip the mattress to prolong its usuage, but the truth is, nothing will improve a bed made of poor quality springs. You'll never have to flip a DUX mattress because the springs will not bend or lose retention. The durable DUX spring is constructed to last for many years." DON'T BELIEVE IT - THESE SPRINGS DO BEND AND LOSE RETENTION.........AND DUX WILL NOT OR CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO REMEDY THE BED.
