| gardenerbob's Full Review: Duxiana Mattress |
So, why am I writing this review?
Mostly to add to what the previous reviews have mentioned.
I have owned the Dux Pascal mattress for about 3 years. The construction is solid- nice zippers and velcro to hold everything in place.(I have not had problems with parts shifting as other reviewers have mentioned.
It fits easily into the queen size frame of my bedroom suite- In fact, it is a bit smaller than your standard mattress and box spring.
In terms of comfort, I find it a bit on the over-firm side and have gone to the expense of buying a thicker (2") natural latex foam to put into the topper. (the original is only 1"). -I recently visited Duxiana and have seen a new model that is much more plush, but the $8K price tag seemed a bit much.
Would I buy this mattress again? Probably not.
Why?
First, the cost ($4K) is really a bit too steep for the amount of comfort delivered.
Second, the customer service when you DO have a problem is a bit dodgy. Duxiana will send a technician to look at the problem. BUT, he won't do anything to fix it. AND, the company never calls back to see that things have been rectified.
Third, there is no way to contact the company directly. They seem to be hiding. No telephone or email. Nothing. It doesn't inspire confidence. In fact, I sense that Dux is out to make a buck while their image and the economy hold out.
Do I dislike my Dux? NO I sleep very well on it.
Do I think it overpriced. Yes. You can buy a couple of Stearns and Foster mattresses/boxspring for the price of a Dux-changing them after 10 years- which is the standard life of a normal mattress.
In summary, buy a Dux if it really feels good to your back (and other parts), and you have the bucks to spend. If you're on a budget look elsewhere. If you have lots of disposable income, look to other manufacturers.
