In a previous opinion, I rated the Dynastar Outland 9L and loved it. Yesterday I stepped up to the plate and checked out the speed SX. Wow! As an intermediate skier with a low confidence level in difficult terrain, I must say that I was quite impressed!

This ski is truly appropriate as an all-terrain ski. I even felt fairly confident on the more advanced terrain such as moguls and steeper, groomed surfaces. The solid intermediate runs were...fun, fun, fun! While the SX was a bit more ski than the Outland, I feel as if it's one I can grow and improve with. It's not too advanced for l'il ol' me.
Ski Magazine rated this ski the 1998-1999 ski of the year saying:
the SX is for aggressive skiers who want big horsepower with lots of versatility. It rips short turns as well as long, and it's at home on the groomed runs or in the bumps. The SX is the new definition of the expert all-mountain ski that blows the competition away.
The model was left unchanged for the 1999-2000 model year.
The conditions were ideal at Northstar on the weekend that I tested them, so perhaps my opinion is a bit colored by this. But, overall I give this ski a five star rating and I ended up purchasing them at the end of the season.

I actually coupled mine with Salomon 850 bindings and Salomon Evolution 9 Boots rather than Dynastar's recommended choices...but to each his (or her!) own! By the way, I picked up my pair online for $400 brand new. Check them out at http://www.mprattesport.com/english/shop/shop.htm
The price was fair considering they were sold out everywhere here in the Bay Area, and they arrived in only a few days.
