mdbrown's Full Review: Dynex DX-LCD32-09 32 in. TV
Construction/Design: Most HD sets I have seen are very non-descript and this is no exception. It is essentially a matte finish black rectangle with a stand. There is a textured Dynex logo centered underneath the screen, a very small light (red for standby, green for powered up) on the lower right corner and that's about it. Simple functionality.
Features: Compared to a tube set this thing is loaded, but is more or less run of the mill for LCD sets. 2 component inputs, 1 composite input, 1 SVGA input, 2 HDMI inputs, and audio/video out. Switching between them is very simple via remote and all seem to work as advertised. Four zoom modes help match the display to the type of video signal you are watching. Max resolution is 720p, not state of the art by any stretch but not an issue under 47 - 50 inches anyway. The remote is pretty basic but covers all the features of the TV and is very intuitive. The manual is, to be kind, skimpy. It will cover the main features but tells you almost nothing about what the features do and the specs are the bare minimum. Probably the weakest part of the whole package.
Performance: All of the above is pointless if the picture isn't good and that's the best news of all. The picture on this set is excellent with good color saturation, excellent sharpness, very good blacks and no discernable ghosting. The display is rated at 5ms response and I have found it to be quite responsive. It has 3:2 pulldown which helps. Although it does not have the 120hz feature, I have not found it lacking in anything I've thrown at it thus far. Note too that it sits in my main room which is saturated during the day with sunlight and the set displays well even under those circumstances. I pump everything through a surround system so I cannot comment on the sound quality.
Purchased this quite by chance during an unadvertised sale. Saw it between an Insignia and Toshiba set, both of the same size. The picture was very close but the price wasn't... $350!!! A major bargain for a 32" set. Certainly not the best at anything except massive bargain for the price.
