Pros: good power, picks up everything, great on all surfaces, easy to maneuver
Cons: 500 bucks for a vacuum?
The Bottom Line: My wife swears by this vacuum and that's good enough for me. It handles bare flooring as well as carpet and does a fantastic job cleaning both.
banditosway's Full Review: Dyson DC07 Allergy Blue/Turquoise Bagless Upright ...
We've gone through the Hoover vacuums that start off great and just lose suction. After a few years the belts go and the vacuum just doesn't clean as well as it used to. Time for something new. This Dyson seems to understand that problem and has engineered a vacuum that works better? I'm skeptical, but the proof is in the proverbial pudding.

The Skinny
Last year we lived in New York. We had 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 kids (with the third on the way). The house had carpeting everywhere but the kitchen and office and was covered in whatever the pets and kids dragged in or dropped on it. After only a couple of years our Hoover (which was already losing its suction) broke.
The Goods
Time for a new vacuum. My wife had been seeing (as I'm sure you all have) the Dyson commercials on TV and had wanted to give it a try. That Hoover was our 2nd one in 7 years. But at $499? For a vacuum? It damn well better do what its supposed to and last. Enter Dyson.
My wife ordered one and couldn't wait for it to arrive.
First impressions
The new Dyson DC07 looked great. It had a nice, modern look to it. And did it suck? Boy, did it ever! My wife and I were amazed (and a bit embarrassed) at home much dirt this new machine picked up from what we thought was a fairly clean section of carpet. Not only did it clean the carpets really well, but it did a great job on the hardwood floors in the office and the tiles in the kitchen.
We've since moved cross country to a new home in California. This time a large majority of the downstairs is wood laminate flooring. Not only did the Dyson make it's way cross country with us, but is doing a great job on this flooring as well.
Emptying the Dyson is very simple too as the detachable bin, for whatever reason, doesn't appear to gather much static electricity as my wife said some other vacuums has. It rolls smoothly, is easy to maneuver and is not very heavy at all. The detachable hose works great on stairs and hard-to-reach places. Plus it's fairly lengthy (something like 15ft or so?) so it's easily reaches a fair way which means you don't have to carry it with you as you clean the stairs. I have to say that my wife uses it more than I do, but the few times that I have had the chance to use it... I was impressed at how easy it was.
Complaints
My only complaint is the cost. Five hundred dollars for a vacuum seems to be alot. But if it lasts as long as a few other vacuums would, then I guess it all evens out. Only time will tell if this vacuum really lasts, but so far so good. If it does then I have no complaints.
