Globey's Full Review: Dyson DC07 Allergy Blue/Turquoise Bagless Upright ...
I am not much on housework, so anything that gets me to clean is worth writing about. This vacuum lives up to the hype surrounding the brand. The Dyson DC07 performs well on all floor surfaces and almost makes vacuuming fun. I purchased the Dyson after years of disappointing performance from other name brand vacuums. I waited for a decent sale (try to avoid paying full price!) and still had to justify paying such a high price ($279) for it. After having it for several months now I can say it's worth the investment. The Dyson is well built and is a powerful vacuum. One of the problems I had with the old style vacuums was forgetting to change the bag. With the Dyson, you can see the debris in the clear chamber and it is sort of fun pulling it off the machine and dumping it into the trash with just one hand. The vacuum is easy to operate and the controls are in sensible places. Using the extension tube is a bit awkward because it is very stiff out of the box, but it flexes a bit more easily with each use. The same for the super long power cord. It tangles easily at first but then relaxes. One note about the power cord. The first few times I used the vacuum, it seemed that the power cord was warm. Not alarmingly so, but enough to cause concern. I would use the vacuum all at once without turning it off to do the whole downstairs of the house, but perhaps with shorter usage periods this would not happen. The Dyson does not sound like a traditional vacuum cleaner when it runs. It is slightly quieter, but has a higher pitched noise. It does not take much time to get used to the different sound.
The vacuum is a bit clunky because the height of the floor component is higher than most vacuums and it does not go under low furniture at all. The beater brush does a good job of fluffing up the carpet. My carpet has some slightly visible seams, but going over them with the vacuum makes them less visible. The weight of the vacuum is light compared to some other vacuums, so your arm does not get tired pushing it around. Using the attachments is easy. It worked great getting the dust out of ceiling and wall vents.
A friend of mine bought the Dyson Animal (the purple one, I think) and she loves it. I liked my Dyson so much that after raving about it so much my sister asked to try it out at her house. The next week she bought one of her own.
