standupguyzk's Full Review: Dyson DC07 Allergy Blue/Turquoise Bagless Upright ...
Things that I love about this machine:
- super long cord that reaches anywhere on each level on our house. Plug into one socket and go into every room without shutting down and finding a new outlet.
- ability to turn off roller brush on smooth or low carpet floors. Keeps you from getting hit by dirt in the ankles. Also good for cleaning rugs with loose strings on them.
- Turbo tool- great for stairs, furniture, and even dog hair in your car.
- The ability to strip down most parts for basic maintenance.
- The hepa filter- no dust floating around the room after cleaning.
- Best part- the ridiculous amount of suction from such a small unit. Equal to the full size shop vac in the garage.
Things I don't like:
- Lack of user installable/replaceable parts-
- the red fuzzy material mounted on the furniture tool peeled off within a few weeks of use- have not found a replacement. In Dyson's defense, I have not called customer service for replacement since I did not want to spend the time- the attachment has worked fine without it, but was somewhat disappointing to see it fall off after a few weeks when you spent so much on the product.
- inablity to remove the roller brush for cleaning. Hair and string gets wrapped around the brush and has to be removed by being cut off by scissors. Would be easier if the brush could be removed.
Interesting notes:
When the hand tools are used with the hose fully extended, there is a slight loss of suction especially with the turbo tool (attribute it to friction with the inside the hose and more of a reduction of volume or air velocity). You can hear a reduction of RPM on the Turbo tool as the hose is extended. Similarly, when the hose is plugged (as when placed against carpet) the force of suction tries to pull the hose out of your hand (drawback of having so much suction).
Was originally worried about the durability of the plastic parts. Called "liquid steel" or something like that- has lasted and proved to be tough even though it feels somewhat flimsy.
With two dogs, two cats, and a two year old child, we use this thing every day. It has held up magnificently and in one step made all of our other vacs obsolete. We had nine other vacs, of which, we have kept two (shop vac and hoover for the basement). Sold the rest at a garage sale. Would not buy another brand.
One suggestion- to maintain powerful suction, make sure to periodically wipe the rubber seals with a wet paper towel. Sometimes dirt gets stuck in those seals and causes leaks.
