Ready2bmom's Full Review: Dyson DC15 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
My fiancee decided to jump on the bandwagon and do what everyone else was doing a little over a year ago and purchase the Dyson DC 15 not thinking that the thing weighs a ton and Im petite, and that I do most of the cleaning.
The history of Dyson comes from Dyson vacuuming his own house one day and thinking that he was tired of the vacuum losing suction and of having to keep on buying bags to change. After selling the idea of the first vacuum that doesnt lose suction in Japan, he made money so that he could finally manufacture this under his own name.
So, it comes in a nice bright yellow color. There are tons of attachments, but Ill get to those later. It is certified as Asthma Friendly, so thats a plus for me since I carry around my nebulizer and inhaler all the time. It also comes with a lifetime warrantied HEPA filter.
Ok, here comes the special features section. The first special feature of the Dyson DC 15 is the ball. The ball has replaced the front wheels to help this monster zigzag around furniture for you to clean with less effort. And then there is the Telescope Reach invention that is this huge pole that you can pull out of the vacuum and reach in high places to clean dust bunnies and stairs. You can leave the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs and clean all of the stairs with this cool invention.
The next special feature of the Dyson DC 15 is the Mini Turbine head which helps remove pet hair and dirt from confined spaces like in the car or upholstery. There is also a mattress tool which helps remove dirt and dust mites from your mattress. Lastly, there is a stiff bristle brush that can help remove tough, ground in dirt.
The HEPA filter has a Bactisafe screen which traps and kills bacteria and mold on contact. The collection bin is see through so you dont have to guess when its time to empty it. Emptying is fairly simple. You can remove the entire canister and just press a button over the garbage and it empties without you having to turn it over and dump it out. The bin holds a little over half a gallon of dirt.
It stores neatly, we just put it in the back of a closet. As long as there is nothing in front of it, I can roll it out of the closet without any major issues.
And here is the part youve all been waiting for. Do I like it at all? I like it that it is good for asthmatics and that it traps mold and bacteria. I like the fact that it reaches hard to reach places. The cord is over 25 feet long.
What I dont like is that it moves around so easily that it gets out of my control. The Dyson DC 15 starts swiveling all over the place, going over areas I already vacuumed. Its too heavy for me at just under 20 pounds.
It costs around $530 and available online at http://www.mrvacandmrssew.com/go/product/id/819 and check out the Dyson website at http://www.dyson.com
