Pros: Picks up almost everything.
Cons: Expensive but worth it
I was skeptical at first and hesitant to buy because of the high price, but I have had my Dyson D17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum for over a year and a half now and it is the best vacuum I've had so far and well worth the price you pay. It gets all the dog hair my other vacuums left behind, and it gets all different kinds of flooring that "deep down" clean. I was amazed at how much dust had been left behind in my carpet by my old vacuum the very first time I used the Dyson D17. My carpets actually looked better, smelled better and the nap actually lifted up almost like it was when new. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.
It takes a bit of reading to master all the attachments that come with the unit, but it's ease of use makes up for the time it takes to read the manual. You can easily glide from carpets to vinyl to wood without any problems.
It is mid-weight and easy to handle. I have arthritis and can easily operate the Dyson D17 and it's attachments. I can also change the attachments without much trouble at all. I've owned other vacuums that were a challange, but the ease of use for my is a big plus.
