Pros: Great suction. Easy to handle. A lot of extras and great attachments,easy to clean.
Cons: Pricey, but worth it, no carrier for extra attachments they don't stay on very well.
The Bottom Line: Definitely would recommend. This vacuum cleans better than any I've seen or used. Gets more out of your carpets than you would expect.

I purchased the DC17 on a recommendation from a co-worker. We have 6 dogs and 1 cat, so I needed a vacuum that would get the hair and dander up out of the carpets. WOW...does it!! I vacuumed the floor with my Hoover first. I wanted to see exactly what was being left in my carpets. I then vacuumed with the Dyson. Holy crap...my hopper was full. That's rather embarrassing to say, but still.... My house isn't a dirty house, or I didn't think it was. I then decided to try the handheld motor brush on the furniture. I did 2 recliners and the sofa. Well....the hopper was over 1/2 full. My furniture wasn't THAT dirty. I can't believe what this vacuum does. I would definitely recommend this thing to anyone. It's a lot of money, but well worth it....whether you have pets or not. Believe it or not, but even the house smells better, not that it smelled bad in the first place. You could tell we have pets. It sure makes a huge difference all the way around. I did find that the attachments don't stay on very well. They don't latch on, they only slip on. The attachment hose is a bit stiff, but I think it will loosen with use. It's much quieter and lighter than my Hoover.
