I spent $450 on this vacuum, and it's not as good as my Sears cannister. I have two black labs and lot's of dog hair.

-Its horrible for my allergies, I can actually see the dust coming out of the vacuum. I cough the whole time while I vaccum.
-It doesnt fit under the kitchen cabinet baseboards, I have to use the hose for that, which in itself is a pain in the... well you know.
-It will make this HORRIBLE screeching sound, I've seen this complaint over and over on review sites. It is horrible.
-It doesn't pick up larger pieces of dirt.
-It does not have a powered beater bar, which you would think is no big deal, but wait four years and see how old your pile carpet looks. That powered beater bar fluffs up the traffic patterns and keeps your carpets looking newer. They Dyson leaves the traffic patterns squashed down.
-I've had three friends tell me that their Dyson's just quit on them for no reason at all.
-I don't think the man that designed this vacuum cared how easy it was to use, all he cared about was the looks.
-Mine still works after five years, and I just gave it away. I would rather lug my Sears cannister upstairs and use that then use the Dyson that I was keeping up there.
-It has a very long cord that I can practically vacuum my whole downstairs w/o replugging. That's it!
