As the low carb diet craze continues to cascade out of control across the country, the real answer to your low carb needs may lie in a low carb drink that has been around for a number of years. EAS has produced low carb ready to drink options ever since I have been a gym rat.

What makes these drinks my favorite? First and foremost, the taste. I am not a fan of the chocolate or the vanilla and have yet to try the new flavors (Blueberry for one), but I love the strawberry. The strawberry drink does a good job of disguising the pasty texture and taste that so many low carb drinks unfortunately possess. Heck, it tastes just like a normal strawberry drink, but with all the benefits.

What are these benefits? First of all, 25g of numerous proteins. Remember that protein is just as much a part of the low carb diet craze as anything. The EAS drinks provide you with a great deal of extra protein. I began consuming these drinks five years ago when they were pushed at my fitness center as a way to get a protein lift and build more muscle mass. So yes, they do have a good amount of extra protein.

Secondly, the drinks are low carb. We are all bombarded with info on the low carb diets and how they can have you looking fit and trim in no time, but how can you get all the nutrition that you need with these diets? The EAS drinks are a supplement, but can also be consumed as a meal replacement. Or, and this is a strategy that I like, they can be used as a portion of your meal. What I mean is that you consume one before dinner and know that you will eat less because you are somewhat fuller than you normally would be before beginning to eat. The key is that you are fuller with proteins and not carbs. One caveat to be aware of- the drinks do contain a decent amount of calories.

So, how can I afford these drinks since they are so expensive? A good question. I would suggest joining a frequent buyers club (I am a member at a vitamin store) that offers you discounts and buy in bulk. Or buy online at the EAS web site. There you can order six four packs for $45- less than $2 per drink. The company can safely ship the drinks to you, but be sure to refrigerate as soon as they arrive. You can consume them warm, but they taste best when they are chilled to a normal refrigerator temperature. You can also purchase the powders and mix your own drinks. A 20 serving order will cost you around $33- not a huge difference, pbviously. Finally, EAS also makes protein bars. I am not a big fan and never have been. The bars have the chalky taste and texture that the strawberry drinks manage to avoid.

One thing to keep in mind. Any literature that you receive from the company will suggest that you have a drink two or three times daily. I think this a bit much. For one, you will go broke getting in shape. For two, you do still need to eat other foods and get nutrients from them that the EAS drinks may not have.

At any rate, I am a big believer in the EAS drinks. They are full of protein which is pertinent to building and maintaining a better and healthier body and low in carbs. The low carb count is becoming a must when trying to lose weight. The EAS drinks will not get you all the way to your goals, but will be a big help.
