There is a lot of fun to be had in Rock Band. Some might say that it is too pricey but I say it's worth every penny. I have been playing rhythm games since the first Parappa the Rapper and I have to say, this is the best one ever made. Before Rock Band my favorite rhythm game was Amplitude, a previous game from Harmonix. Though I very much enjoyed all the Guitar Hero games, I still had more fun playing Amplitude, but Rock Band really is the new king of rhythm games.
Playing the guitar or bass in Rock Band is not as fun or challenging as Guitar Hero but playing with your friends more than makes up for it.
The singing in Rock Band is very fun if you know the songs. I never really liked to sing anything into a microphone. I always hated when my mom made me sing karaoke with her and my relatives. I would sing along to some of my music every once and a while but that's it. Then along came Rock Band and now I actually like to sing stuff. I still don't want to do karaoke though.
The drums are AMAZINGLY fun! In my opinion, they are by far the most fun and most challenging instrument in Rock Band. Don't get down on yourself if you don't do very good at first, once you get the hang of it you'll be having fun in no time.
The only complaint I have about this game is that the foot pedal for the drums broke on both mine and my friends games. Luckily they are willing to send you a new one for free. I also heard that in Rock Band 2 the foot pedal is reinforced with metal so they are addressing the problem.
