Elmer's has long been THE name for glue. School glue, glue sticks, contact cement...if it's sticky, it's Elmer's. So when I saw this big pack of a bunch of the fat Elmer's glue sticks, I jumped on them. It was in Micheal's, a craft store, and I was looking for Aleen's tacky glue for a different craft...
I've bought glue sticks in the past that change colors so you know it's dry...well, most of them are whitish when I get them opened, so they are already dry. These sticks were dark blue. They stayed dark blue for quite a while, even after a couple hours of scrabooking, so they don't dry as fast as others. That could be because they are Elmer's, and it could be becaue they are so fat and they just have more surface area to dry before they dry completely. I don't know.
These glue sticks are recommended for paper, only. They aren't goopy or messy, so even kids can use them. Their large size also makes them easier for kids to handle. They start out blue, so you can see where the glue is going, then dry clear so that even if you get them on something it isn't supposed to be on, once it's dry, it disappers.
The caps fit tightly on the bottles, so air doesn't leak in and dry the sticks out like some other brands do. That is wonderful to me, as I've opened I don't know how many glue sticks that have sat for months only to have them completely dried out and useless.
These glue sticks don't smell bad, either. They don't smell at all, really, which is also an improvement over many competitors. Some just flat stink. Literally.
Aside from that, I think I paid like $6 for a pack of 12, which I thought was an amazing price. I have also used them for attaching fabric, which it does work fairly well, but comes loose after it's been attached for a couple days, so I do only recommend them for use on paper.
