Pros: Solid stable board, good supply of only the needed slots and hardware.
Cons: Doesn't like Voodoo 3 for the first revision at least, has only 2 USB but can have 4.

| Matt1979's Full Review: EPoX EP-7KXA Motherboard |
I bought this right when the VIA KX133 chipset boards were just hitting the market and I was planning on getting the ASUS K7V but it was not out yet so I decided on this board due to many very good reasons. The first and foremost reason was that my dad uses Epox boards and has for a very long time in his business (CAD/Architecture). His last was the Super Socket 7 board and he is still running it nicely with a K6-2-500mhz CPU. I have always been an ASUS fan and still am, but until now I thought no other board for the K7 could compare to it. When it first arrived I was suprised at how well put together the packaging alone was, and then when I opened the box I was astounded at the display of good old fashioned quality it held inside. First off it had a very easily understood manual, a rarity among motherboard manufacturer in these times. The quality of the board was very impressive, and the cables supplied and all the extra hardware was a very nice suprise.
I finally got to the point of assembly after many minutes of drooling over the package itself and giving the FEDEX guy a sacrificed young virgin to boot.:) Once done I slapped on my new Athlon 600mhz CPU, and proceeded to put in the various other hardware which consisted of 256 MEGS PC100 Micron RAM, a Guillemot Xentor 32 TNT 2 Ultra 32 meg AGP 2X card, SB Live! sound, 56K modem and 8 fans all together:) On the CPU I used Coolerstars triple fan Athlon heatsink and silicon grease. That was 4 months ago and it still runs perfect. it comes with Norton Anti Virus and USDM system diagnostic software. the BIOS is jumperless and this was a very nice time saver indeed and very good for quick overclocks. The USDM tells CPU and chassis fan speeds as well as voltages and temperatures needed to keep your baby up and running. It has 5 PCI, 1 AMR (audio modem riser slot for sound/modem) 1 ISA and 1 AGP 1x/4X slot. If you need alot of detailed info, then just click on the link from this page and read up, all I have to say is rock on Epox!!!!
Addendum as of 10/26/00 Have had over 5 months to test this board...I want to now say that this is the worst, most unstable and shoddy crafted board ever made for the Athlon Alot A foundation! DO NOT BUY! Unless you want many , many months of hell and blue screeens. I'd suggest ASUS or another HIGH brand name...trust big names...it will always help in situations like this.!
