| dianapinions's Full Review: EZPans Slow Cooker Liners |
Lately, I've been rather obsessed with my slow cooker. When I'm not actually cooking, I'm usually perusing one of my seven slow cooker cookbooks looking for new things to try. As a busy, working Mom, I really appreciate coming home to a hot, cooked meal that's been cooking all day while I am at work. Yes, I've become rather addicted. There's nothing like walking into the house, and noting the aroma of a delicious dinner permeating each room.
Most of what I cook is fairly low fat, such as chicken breasts and vegetarian soups and chili. I had found that the lowfat slow cooker meals tended to scorch onto my heavy, slow cooker stoneware, leaving me a big cleanup job, after the meal. Reading reviews here on Epinions, I discovered slow cooker liners. These are just wonderful! These clear, vinyl liners are easily placed inside one's slow cooker stoneware, with the excess draping over the outside. Then cook your meal as usual. Then, all that's left to do is to remove and dispose of the liner. No messy pots to clean up! The vinyl liners are food safe for cooking up to 400 degrees, so they are perfect for the low, steady heat of a slow cooker. They are large enough to easily fit standard slow cookers, of typical shapes and sizes.
For some time, I was using the Reynolds Liners that were available in the local grocery stores. However, one day, with an online search, I discovered EZPan Slow Cooker Liners. Since they were less expensive, I decided to give them a try. These are now my preferred slow cooker liner, by far, and I am very happy to share my experience with them.
Comparing EZPan Liners to Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners:
I like these EZPan Liners much better than the similar ones made by Reynolds. EZPan liners are both better and much less expensive! The Reynolds liners are 13 inches by 21 inches. The EZPan liners are 14 inches by 23 inches. I have a 6-quart, oval Rival Smart-Pot cooker. While the Reynolds liners fit in my slower cooker nicely, the extra two inches in the EZPan Liners makes these even easier to insert. In addition, the Reynolds liner appears flimsier to me, and has a fragile seam at the very bottom that can easily rip, causing a very messy leak. In fact, I had such a leak with my very first box of Reynolds liners. The EZPan liners have NO seams, and appear to be a bit thicker. I have used approximately 25 EZPan liners so far, and have not had a single rip or leak.
Not only are the EZPan liners sturdier and larger, but they are also less expensive. And that makes me happy! The Reynolds liners are approximately $3.25 for a box containing only four liners. So, we're looking at around 80 cents per bag. The EZPan liners are sold in various quantities. I purchased a package of 50 liners for $17, via Amazon.com. I did have to pay a few dollars for shipping. However, now that I know how great these liners are, next time I will purchase 100 liners for $25.99, which will qualify for free shipping. That will decrease the per pag cost to only 26 cents per bag!
Compared to the excessive packaging involved in most convenience foods, discarding this single, thin liner after making a large meal that will feed my family for two or more dinners, seems reasonable. In addition, I save water and detergent, since I have no pots to scrub. And I save my time and my mood, and that's very important to me!
Availability:
As far as I can tell, these EZPan liners are available only online, primarily, or maybe exclusively via Amazon. They are shipped in a simple, vinyl shipping envelope, devoid of any fancy packaging or boxes. They are available in quantities of 4, 10, 50 or 100 liners. Even the EZPan.com website directs visitors to Amazon, to purchase the liners.
In summary, I am thrilled with these EZPan liners!
In truth it is quite satisfying to eat a delicious, hot, slow cooker meal after working all day, and then have no pots to clean. I often make a big, pretend show of exasperation, in front of my husband, after dinner, as I announce gloomily, "It's time to scrub the pots". Then, I simply whip off the used, slow cooker liner and, with a degree of drama and flamboyance, toss it into the trash can. Then I usually giggle! Task done! My slow cooker stays spotless and shiny, at all times.
If you enjoy cooking with a Slow Cooker, try out these EZPan Slow Cooker Liners. They are better and less expensive than those from Reynolds. And that's not just a bunch of "crock". Convenient slow cooker meals, and no pots to clean! Life is great! Enjoy!
