| henrywei's Full Review: E.J.'s Luncheonette - Upper East Side |
I've generally been of the opinion that EJ's is over-rated, since there are plenty of Mom-and-Pop diners on the Upper East Side which are just as good or better than EJ's. That being said, EJ's brunch menu is something you should try at least once, especially the scrumptious belgian waffles and enormous pancakes. The lunch and dinner menus are also fine -- standard diner fare, nothing terribly outstanding, but then again, all consistently good, reasonably-priced (especially for the Upper East Side). If you're in a vegetarian mood, their veggie-burger is actually suprisingly tasty. The atmosphere is bustling, and it's not the sort of place for folks to, say, exchange classified nuclear weapons secrets; but, it is a great to meet friends for brunch. If I had to pick one diner to eat at for the rest of my life, this would be the one. On the other hand, I don't have to, and you don't either.
