amyk49's Full Review: E.L.F. Professional Nail Polish Remover Pads 18 Ea
When giving myself a manicure or pedicure I like to get through the process as quickly as possible. Anything that will quickly and conveniently take off my old polish is a plus in my book. I saw these nail polish remover pads and wanted to see if they would work better than basic bottled polish remover and cotton pads.
~ Product Description E.L.F. Professional Nail Polish Remover Pads are thin, round cloths saturated with a foamy agent, alcohol, perfume and purified water. Although E.L.F. calls these "pads," they are very thin, and not at all padded, and nothing like the thick cotton pads I usually use with a bottled polish remover.
These come in a round plastic container with a screw-off lid. I paid $1.49 for these at Drugstore.com. There are 18 pads in the container.
Note these do not contain acetone.
~ My Experience
I used these first to remove the polish from my toenails. I generally use a polish remover with acetone, as I find it gets the polish off with less rubbing. I didn't realize E.L.F. Professional Nail Polish Remover Pads didn't have acetone, but I hoped they would work well anyway. I know acetone can be drying to nails.
The little round container is nice, and not having to deal with a bottle that can spill is convenient.
I took out a pad and started to rub off the polish. I noticed the pad was quite well saturated, yet not drippy. It took more rubbing to get off the polish with these pads than it does with an acetone polish remover. Also, these seemed to leave an oily feel, although no oil is listed in the ingredients.
One pad per foot/hand is sufficient to get off the polish, at least with a lighter colored polish. The cloth pads don't shred or catch, which is nice. Although thin, they are pretty sturdy.
My biggest gripe about these polish remover pads is that they leave an oily-like sensation. I use polish remover to clean my nails as the last step before applying new polish, and I want a clean, dry surface. These don't leave my nails feeling as clean and dry as a regular bottled polish remover. Also, it does take a little extra rubbing to get off the polish.
~ Final Thoughts E.L.F. Professional Nail Polish Remover Pads are certainly convenient, but you need a little extra rubbing to get off the polish, and they don't leave my nails feeling clean and dry, so I won't repurchase and cannot recommend. However, if you have very dry, brittle nails, these might be good for you, and the packaging is convenient for travel.
