Eagle Claw Fishing Hooks
Eagle Claw hooks are the only American made fishing hook. Most fishing hooks, like everything else are made in Japan and China. The Eagle Claw Hooks were designed by a fisherman from Colorado during the 1920s. He had been fishing in the Colorado river and the Rainbow Trout as well as native trout had been flipping off his fishing hooks. As he sat down for a break, he watched an Eagle swoop from the sky and nail a trout right in front of him. As he thought about this superior fishing bird, he considered the Eagles talons and their shape. He took out his pliers and bent the tip of his hook inward , he also gave the shank of the hook a slight curve. Fisherman, Drew McGill had just made the first Eagle Claw fishing hook.
Over the years Eagle Claw has perfected their very sharp penetrating fishing hooks. Eagle Claw has also produced a huge line of hooks. There are thousands of shapes and sizes. Ill list some of their more popular hooks below. The most used design that Eagle Claw produces is the American design. This is the first design that is built to hook and hold the fish. The hook is offset which causes the hook to be in the direct line of pull. In other words when you set your hook, you have nailed yourself a fish. The Eagle Claw hooks penetrate and hold like no other hook on the market.
There are several reasons that a fish will get off your hook. The first would be that your hook is not set good. When you get a bite, you give the line a good firm tug, up and towards yourself. This sets your hook (penetrates the hard cartilage in the mouth of a fish ). Once your hook is set you have to keep tension on your line. If your line gets slack in it, the fish can get off fairly easy. Keep your line tight all the way to your net.

Final Thoughts
My final thoughts on the Eagle Claw hooks are all positive. The hooks are very durable and long lasting. I have never thrown out a Eagle Claw hook. The hooks have a very long life. The hooks are the sharpest hooks that you can buy off the shelf. Sharp hooks are important when setting your hook. If you ever need to sharpen a hook, you can use a nail file. Itll put a sharp point right back on any hook. The best thing about the Eagle Claw hooks are their design. The hooks are designed to hook and hold a fish and they do just that. I would recommend Eagle Claw hooks and products to any fisherman. The hooks work on any species of fish. Well up to a certain size anyway. I havent hooked a Great White shark yet with an Eagle Claw hook. I give this awesome line of hooks five of five stars. We need more American made fishing products.
