| Lisa_J's Full Review: Easy Bake Lil??? Bratz Triple Chocolate Cookies |
Chocolate, baking, Bratz? What a trio, a three-some that was certain to appeal to our little baker. At least that is what Santa assumed. Well, Santa had it right when he put the Easy Bake Lil Bratz Triple Chocolate Cookies into her stocking. Afterall, he knew that Miss likes Bratz dolls, baking, and chocolate! Our daughter was thrilled to receive yet another mix set to use with her Easy Bake Real Oven and her original Easy Bake Oven.
The Easy Bake Lil Bratz Triple Chocolate Cookies is recommended for ages 8 and up. This pack includes two packets of cookie mix, two packets of frosting mix and an instruction/recipe book. Although intended for use with one of the varieties of Easy Bake ovens, your child (with assistance of course) can use the mixes in a traditional oven. This set retails for approximately $4.99, but Santa doesn't remember exactly how much was rendered to Target.
Package/Product Claim:
"Those Lil Bratz are three times more fashionable than anyone else, so they demand gooey chocolate cookies that are three times as rich! These Triple Chocolate Cookies are made just for your EASY-BAKE oven and are easy to make and awesome to enjoy!"
Additional Items Needed:
Easy Bake Oven (or alternative)
Baking Pan
Cooking Spray
Water
Measuring Spoon
Mixing Bowl
Mixing Spoon
Spatula or Other Frosting Application Tool
Flour
This mix, like other Easy Bake mixes, is simple for your young baker to prepare. After opening a packet of cookie mix, your child will add water, mix well, flour his/her hands and then either roll the dough into a large ball for a thick pan size cookie, two balls for two small cookies, or shape into desired ball shapes (recipe states up to six), place them onto greased pan(s) and flatten.
Not to be misleading, you need to understand that a pan size Easy Bake cookie is approximately 3.5". My daughter prefers to make two small cookies per package. Next the pan is carefully inserted (using the pan-pusher) into the Easy Bake Oven. As mentioned, our daughter uses either the original Easy Bake Oven or the Easy Bake Real Oven. It has been our experience that pan-sized cookies take approximately 15 minutes, whereas the smaller versions take between 8-12 minutes. If he/she desires, a frosting mix can be prepared (just add water and stir) and after allowing the cookie(s) to cool, your child can spread it on.
The cookies are gooey inside (perhaps slightly undercooked) with a crisp edge. They don't exactly have that home cooked taste quality, but our little baker hasn't complained. The packaging shows four nicely shaped chocolate cookies, which have chocolate chips and a dabble of chocolate frosting, hence the "Triple Chocolate Cookie" name. In reality Miss cooked two small cookies (per package), they had a somewhat irregular shape, and yes she put frosting onto them.
Importantly, this mix, and others in the Easy Bake line, create that "I Can" attitude which inspires kids and satisfies parents like myself. My daughter, currently 10, still enjoys bringing her Easy Bake Bin into the kitchen (we store all of her Easy Bake items: Ovens, Apron, Chef Hat, Mixer, Etc.) in an airtight bin in the garage) on occasions. Yes, she also -very much- enjoys baking and cooking excursions with the kitchen appliances and such... but she knows that she can complete these mixes on her own. And, she even cleans up!
Now then, I will also mention that this set includes a recipe/instruction book which tells your child how to prepare the included mixes and offers a couple other recipe options (you will need additional ingredients). Much to her dismay, her Father -accidentally- threw the booklet away. You can also find several recipes at the following websites:
