I first stumbled onto to E-bay by browsing sites to post an auction. The reason I tried auctions was that it has become very costly to place an add in the local newspaper. I registered and put a few things up for auction, things went very smooth overall, but sometimes you run into a high bidder who backs out after he has won the auction. This is were it starts to get time consuming and costly. First, you have to post a complaint, wait until E-bay responds, which usually says that the high bidder has been notified to respond quickly and so on and so on. Mean time your item sits, unless you are in no hurry, then you can re-post it, and if it sells E-bay will not charge you a second re-posting fee.
Also beware that E-bay has what they call a feedback section, this is where buyers and sellers rate each other. In my experience you better wait until both parties are asking each other for a feedback. Often times a seller or buyer will post a positive feedback and never receive one in return. E-bay user's thrive on how many positive feedback's they have, this gives them something to fall back on in case they have a bad experience. In closing E-bay is great, but beware that these buyers and sellers are still shrewd and cunning!
