| ra64's Full Review: Econo Lodge Inn And Suites |
I stayed at the Econo Lodge Inns and Suites in Lake Harmony/White Haven for two nights in August, and then again for two nights in October. I was pleased with my stay and would stay here again if in the area. The hotel is located in the Pocano Mountains, which are in the northeast portion of Pennsylvania. The exact location is on route 940 in a mostly undeveloped area, so there's nothing much within walking distance, or a mile or two. About 3 miles west towards White Haven there's a a group of fast food joints, convenience stores, gas stations, etc, and about 4 miles east in Blakeslee, you'll find the same plus perhaps a few restaurants. I believe there are several ski type resorts nearby although I wasn't in the area for those so I'm not positive which ones are how far away. Pocano International Raceway is about 9 miles away and can easily be reached in less than 15 minutes. There are also a few other hotels along route 940 between White Haven and Blakeslee. Note it can actually be hard to get directions to the hotel – google maps couldn't find the address listed. Also, I've seen the hotel listed as Econo Lodge Lake Harmony and Econo Lodge White Haven, but they are the same thing. The actual hotel is 4 buildings; one contains a small office and lounge where breakfast is served, and the other 3 are motel style (no interior hallways) 2 story buildings. All the “rooms” are actually suites. Both my suites contained a lounge area with a sofa, coffee table, table with 4 chairs, moderate sized CRT television, a small kitchen with a mini fridge, electric stove and mini fridge, standard bathroom, and a bedroom with a queen bed, dresser, and another TV. Quite a lot for 50 bucks or so a night I'd say. On my first stay, when I checked in around 11PM and the office was empty. I had to wait a minute for an employee to come to the front desk. The check in was friendly. The next time, when I showed up around 11 the guy was waiting in the office and had my paperwork ready. That was nice. The whole suite was clean; however, many parts of the interior, such as the linoleum floor in the kitchen area, looked dated and worn out. There was no mold and no smell anywhere in my non smoking room. The water pressure in the shower was decent. The air conditioning/heating was a central unit with a digital thermometer. On my first stay, the temperature was pretty nice so I had the air conditioning on but it barely ever kicked in. On my second stay in October, it was pretty chilly but the heat worked fine although I had to turn it up to keep the place warm. The place was not that full on all nights I was there, but when the suites next to or above me were occupied, I could here some noises from there. The bed was comfortable during my first stay, but unfortunately not so much on my second. The middle of the bed sagged and although I tried sleeping on the edge of the bed, it was not the best nights sleep I've had. Seems like some of the beds might be older, so it may be a crapshoot as to what you get in that regard. There is free wifi, however on both my stays, the signal in my suite was not that strong. The first time, I could connect fine in my lounge area but not the bedroom in the back. The second time even the signal in the lounge was spotty. Overall though, I had no major issues during my stays. My first stay was better then my second, but for the rate I got, I would still stay here again, especially considering the look of a few of the other motels near here that you can get for the same price. I'd recommend this Econo Lodge to anyone looking for a reasonable place at the bargain price.
