I knew exactly what I was looking for when it came time to buy a high chair for my son. I definitely wanted a high chair with a very classic look to it. I definitely wanted a WOODEN high chair, and I definitely wanted one that was very functional and easy to maintain. If anyone else has looked for the same, you know it is not a very easy task!
Quite honestly, I've been disappointed with a few of the other Eddie Bauer products (travel system/playpen), but I still decided to give this one a shot.
It was fairly easy to put together and looks fantastic. It's a great combination of classic styling and modern functionality. All the important heavy-use parts are removable and/or easy to clean. There are good storage areas and the chair is compatible with other brands/types of coverings if you would like to try a different fabric or pattern.
However, it's obviously made for a more mature baby. I wouldn't plan on using it until the baby can sit perfectly on his own.
You may need to search around a little bit, but it is available in light, dark, cherry, and black wood.
You may want to consider putting a mat under the high chair as well, especially if it is sitting on a carpeted area. It has nothing to do with the manufacturer, but wooden chairs can permanently stain carpeting if they come into contact with moisture. Unfortunately, this can be permanent.
When looking at wooden high chairs, the price is very reasonable, with much greater functionality than the traditional ones.
