| bnpositive's Full Review: Eddie Bauer 02-849 Booster Car Seat |
We've now been using this car seat for about 8 months now. We've been extremely happy with it so far. The car seat looks nice and doesn't have one of those annoying-doesn't-match-anything-material pattern on it. Plus, it's basically monogrammed for my son, Ethan. = )
Anyway, I bought this seat through www.babycenter.com and had a coupon for the purchase and ended up paying only about $60 for the seat. I know this is much cheaper than what I would have paid in the store. Because of this I believe I've definitely gotten my money's worth. If I'd had to pay $100+, I might be a little bit more critical.
There's only one component of the seat that's come apart and that's where the belt goes through the front. The clasp that holds down the padding and material came loose. It was fairly easy to snap back into place.
My son seems to like and acts like it's fairly comfortable. We've gone on 10+ hour trips in and he was fine. Slept the majority of the time. We had it out of the car and on the living room floor and he would sit in it and play. So, can't be that bad.
The seat features 2 mesh pockets on either side by the legs. These are perfect for holding small toys, a juice box or cup, and a pacifier.
The seat is removed from the car very easily, and with practice you can get very quick at putting it back in. My sons not big enough yet for us use the existing chest belt across the seat. Not sure how it will be to install the additional safety strap to the cars seating supports. It's not real easy to install in cars that only have the shoulder belts in the back seat. It's much better if you've only got the lap belt to fasten it down with. A little trick I've used to get the most snug fit with the safety belt is to lay across the seat with my weight while pulling on the lap belt, this really secures it snugly onto the back seat.
Another drawback I've noticed is the shoulder and lap straps on the seat itself (for your child) aren't stiff enough. The material tends to roll and fold and not stay straight in the chest guide and buckle attachments.
Like I said though, overall, we've been really pleased. I recommend this seat, and be sure and look for a coupon online to save even more money.
