| kmkeeney's Full Review: Eddie Bauer Booster Seat |
When our six-month-old weighed in at 24 pounds, we knew it was time for a new car seat. We'd been using an infant seat that snapped into a stroller, but it just wasn't working for us with him being so heavy.
After comparing several brands, we decided on the Cosco Alpha Omega. It has a five-point harness, which is much safer than a three-point harness. The straps are easily adjusted after the baby's been strapped in, so if he has bulky winter clothes on we can loosen it, and if he is wearing lighter clothes we can tighten it.
The seat is easy to strap in to any car, though we had to remove the base to use it in our compact car. A seatbelt clip was included with the seat, and it came in handy for those middle seat belts, which tend to slip. Overall, the seat's easier to use without the base, in my opinion. The seat uses three separate "routes" for the seatbelt, depending on whether you are facing it backward or forward, and what the height/weight of the child is. This can be a bit confusing, but if used correctly for the age/height/weight of the child, the seat is secure and the child is comfortable.
The only con of this seat is the fact that it costs so much. However, we figured we would have spent the same amount of money on the two seats we would need until our child reached 80 pounds, so we decided to spring for it all in one shot, rather than waiting a couple of years to buy another seat for a higher weight range.
