| pwe7's Full Review: Edgewater On The Columbia |
I'm moving this review to where it should be.
Lobby:
This restaurant is located in the Richland Red Lion. When my husband and I walked in the main entrance of the hotel, we noticed that the lobby was very clean and neat. The decor was a little dated(80's) having a multi-colored paisley carpet and brown ceramic tile. When I used the bathroom in the lobby I noticed the same brown tiles in there too. The counters were brown marble and the stales were made of a very dark grainy wood.
Edgewater:
The restaurant had the same dated feel to it, though when it was last decorated(80's?)it would have been a very elegant look. In here there is the same multi-colored paisley carpet as in the lobby. Dark grainy wood half walls, booths and large beams overhead. A large stone fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. Pastel floral pictures were on the walls. It also has large picture windows that overlook the Columbia river.
Down in the window seating area there are more intimate seating arrangement, small tables for two with clean white linen tablecloths, candles and armchairs(that need to be reupholstered due to the fabric coming off of the arms). The restaurant has soft lighting by small square chandeliers, allowing guests to enjoy the candlelight.
There are only two problems in this sitting area. It's a little drafty due to a back door that leads down to the hot tub area or to the back parking area. For some reason a couple of the waiters kept going in and out through this door. If it hadn't been a rainy cold February day when we went it may not have been so bad. But this really cold draft was very bothersome and disrupting to the meal. Also some views from the tables are more of the hot tub area then the river.
The staff was very courteous. Checking our reservation promptly and seating us quickly in the area we had requested when we made the reservation. Then our server immediately brought us some water and a basket of hot rolls with herb butter and honey butter. Throughout the entire meal our waiter or the head waiter was always ready to refill our water, bread or get us anything we needed.

This was what we usually start with if we have an appetizer.

Steaks & Chops
Porter House Steak $28.95
Filet Mignon $27.95
My husband usually gets this.
They gave him two Filet Mignon steaks with Hunter Sauce. My husband said the steaks were very tender and that the sauce was the perfect compliment to them. My husband usually gets this with the garden salad which he said was very fresh. He also usually orders a baked potato. This is served with a little caddy filled with butter, sourcream, bacon and chives. The meal also came with very fresh green beans that were slightly cooked.

Crab & Brie Stuffed Salmon $21.25
Hazel Nut Crusted Hailbut $22.25
This is what I usually get.
It is a firm but flaky Alaskan Halibut crusted with Hazel Nuts and accompanied by a Lemon Beurre Blanc on a bed of Linguine. I usually have the linguine substituted for the mashed baby red potatoes though. If they have it I try and get the Cream of Butternut Squash soup to go with it. If they don't have it the Broccoli Cheese soup which is also good. This meal is also served with the slightly cooked fresh green beans.
Seafood Linguine $19.95
Fresh Chilean Sea Bass $22.95
Flambe
Steak Diane $30.95
Seafood Neptune $27.95
Bananas Foster $6.95
My husband and I love to get this dessert.
It is a flambe prepared at your table's side. It is made from butter, brown sugar, sliced bananas, rum and I can't think of the other liqueur in it. Then spooned over vanilla ice cream. Served in a Cabernet Sauvignon glass. It is really really good. If you love caramel and bananas this is definitely a dessert to try.
