vitabrevis's Full Review: Electrolux EL1000A2 Pronto Bagless Stick Cyclonic ...
I bought the vacuum at sears for $99.00 maybe 18 months ago. At first, I loved it. It was the first cordless stick vac that I had ever purchased. I wanted something that would enable me to do a daily vacuum for approximately 450 square feet of laminate flooring and the idea of not having to drag a cord around furniture was very appealing.
I have two large dogs, one has very short hair and the other has medium length hair. They spend the majority of the day inside, hence the need to sweep/vacuum daily. The pronto could not keep up with the task. I routinely had to clean the beater bar, which would not have been that much of an issue except for the fact after cleaning it one-day it started to come apart. In addition, the motor that drives the beater bar was very weak, it states can be used on carpet, I only attempted it on two Berber floor mats with no success.
Those issues aside I noticed that if used on the lower of the two power setting you had to move rather slowing over the floor or it would fail to pick up all of the debris, and if you used it on the high power setting then it would run out of power rather quickly, approximately 10 minutes, this is after owning it for less than a year. If that was not bad enough one day, the beater bar stopped moving completely. I decided to take it apart since it would not rotate even after cleaning it. Once apart I saw that the bearing that supports the beater bar had failed, I cleaned it repacked it with grease and it worked again, however in less than 3 months it failed again. I have since bought a Eureka model 96 and am much more satisfied with that unit.
