Pros: When it worked, originally, it was a dream come true for my hardwood floors
Cons: BEWARE: Electrolux Pronto didn't live up to my high expectations, not even for 1 year!
The Bottom Line: My mother always said, "Pretty is as Pretty DOES." Well, this pretty appliance doesn't last long enough to make up for its expense.

First Impressions aren't always lasting!!
When I bought the Electrolux Pronto less than a year ago, I loved its hunky, metallic red appearance, lightweight frame and cordless docking system. It's a sleek and unique product, which on looks alone would win any design award. I bought Electrolux Pronto to clean crumbs and dust off my hardwood floors. It definitely isn't for carpets and I didn't even try it on my rugs.
Like many other reviewers of the Electrolux Pronto discovered, the vacuum was tantalizingly efficient in the beginning. I could maneuver it almost anywhere-- it could win a spot on "Dancing with the Stars" for its flexibility. The Electrolux Pronto also picked up lots of crumbs and dust from the floor, and the removable hand-vac had multiple uses. I found it wasn't too tricky to empty the cup and shake out the filter, and I loved recharging my unit in the closet, hidden from plain sight.
In short, first impressions of this vac were A+.
But Problems with Electrolux Pronto Crept Up...
If I had written my review in the beginning of our relationship, I would have rated it 5-Stars, with a standing ovation. However, the romance with my vac soured just a few months into the Electrolux Pronto's life at my house. I started having to take apart the vacuum (or asking my husband to fix it) to remove dust bunnies and hair clumps that got stuck in the tubing and wrapped around the brush.
Then, I started having serious problems with the rotating beater/brush at the bottom part of the vacuum. Basically, the rolling brush stops rotating, which means that the vacuum doesn't glide well along the floor and only picks up 10% of the dust and particles you're trying to vacuum! This is the last straw... and I don't even have cats or dogs. I do have a bird, and I still need a handy way of picking up all the seed husks from the floor.
Dearly Beloved will soon be Dearly DEPARTED
So, my dearly beloved Electrolux Vacuum, you are going back to Bed Bath and Beyond, from whence you came less than a year ago. Yes, I will shed a small tear for you, but I'm on the hunt again for a lightweight vacuum with longevity! (suggestions are appreciated...)
** UPDATE **
I had no problems returning the Pronto to Bed Bath and Beyond. They have a very helpful return/exchange program for merchandise which fails during the first year of purchase.
After careful consideration and reading various reviews, I recently bought the Dyson DC18 Slim for about $350 (after a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond). Yes, I know ~ a LOT more expensive! So far, though, the Dyson DC18 works like a charm, with fantastic suction! A few differences: the DC18 is quite a bit noisier than the Electrolux Pronto. It's also somewhat heavier, and doesn't have an automatic battery charge like the Electrolux. So, no cordless cleaning with the Dyson :( The Dyson's rolling beater bar is sturdier appearing than the Pronto's, and I haven't seen much debris getting caught in it. Also, the dust bin on the Dyson empties from the bottom, which is cleaner and simpler than the Electrolux. All in all, I'm glad I switched to the Dyson, but only time will tell!
