bondalini's Full Review: Electrolux EL5020 Bagged Upright Vacuum
When I bought this vacuum, my previous machine had been dead for 2 weeks. With 2 cats and a dog roaming through my house, I was anxious to get a product that had good suction and could be used on carpets and floors.
The electrolux el 5020 impressed me from the start with how well it pulled the fur and dirt out of my carpet. A light that comes on when the bag is full, a retractable cord, and a telescoping handle make vacuuming a fun experience.
It is a small machine and therefore it is much quieter than others that I have used.
I use it both in the carpeted areas of my home, which (unfortunately) have a 70's shag and by clicking a button on the handle, it readjusts for wood or vinyl flooring. As long as the bag is not full, the machine works great on both textures.
Another bonus about this machine is it's light weight. I have no problem lifting it to do stairs and it's compact design makes it easy to store. It folds down to a small square and fits nicely in the closet.
To assist with the lightweight and compact design, the bag is necessarily small, and while the indicator light telling you that the bag needs changed is amusing in the first days, it does become a bit of a chore after a while. Overall, it's a great vacuum but may be best for small areas only.
