NHL 2002 has usually always been an average game, but for this series to get better EA Sports must look at what other sports game have. NHL 2002 has a shootout mode, season mode (Franchise mode-10 years), playoff mode, exhibition mode and some trading and editing line options. They also have a good and improved create-a-player mode. NHL 2002 is a good game, EA added some better graphics and the cool breakaway and big hit camera. The breakaway camera, is when your on a breakaway, The edges of the screen turn blue and all you hear is the heart beat of your skater. While your in this you have control of your stick and can make some good moves on the goalie to score. The big hit camera, happens when you make a big hit on someone (duh). The edges of the screen turn red and show a replay of your big hit from several different angles, which is pretty cool. But otherwise this is practically the same game as 2001 for the PS2, besides the roster updates. That is why buying the PC version would be much better because you can download updated rosters from EA Sports and from some unofficial websites. You can also download new faces, equipment, and many more things from unofficial sites, which makes the PC version a much better buy.
But, this still is an average game with the PC version too. The NHL series needs to do what the football ones have done, create saleries for teams, in franchise mode. Also put in coaches, scouting directors, like World Series Baseball 2K3 for the XBOX. If NHL had this it would be an amazing game. All I have to say is EA needs to add this and more for the NHL series to become more popular.
