Pros: Analog Control is easy to use, Ball physics and greens are realistic.
Cons: No 4 round tournament! Putting is often hit or miss.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this game because it truly simulates the game of golf, especially with the new analog stick control system! Graphics are excellent, and "Tiger Challenges" make good replay value!

Electronic Arts has revamped its PGA franchise, favoring analog control over the X press button. Personally, I don't know what they were waiting for! For those who've played previous EA titles, the control does take some getting used to, but give it a chance! To be honest, I didn't like it at first, but before long, I was hooked!
This game features classic EA venues, like Sawgrass and Pebble Beach, along with new courses like Birkdale. The graphics are amazing (Thanks, PS2!), and, because of an EA logo on the golf ball, you can actually see and influence the rotation of the ball in the air (thanks to the L2 button).
You can play as yourself and build your own character from the cash you win at tournaments, stroke play, etc., or you can use a Star golfer as well, and use the money they win to build your personal golfer, as well.
Load times between each hole are still a little long, but faster than any previous installment I've played. The announcers are okay, a little repetitive after too long, and you CANNOT go by their advice when putting!
From the tee to the putting green, this game is perfect, with long drives and great tools to help with shot placement. Once you get to the putting green, however, the job is often hit or miss. You do have a "caddy tip", that gives you advice when putting, but there's no "grid" to help you.
The only extreme faults I can find in this game is the fact that you can no longer play a 4 round tournament! Why? It should really be an option! Also, there's no option to save during a match or tournament, which is unfortunate, because sometimes you can't finish a whole round!
Fans of EA's golf series won't be disappointed. Casual golfers may want to rent this one first, it does take a little while to get the learning curve down.
