| Debbie26's Full Review: Electronic Big Mouth Billy Bass |
Big Mouth Billy Bass is one thing I wish I hadn't ever brought into this house. The thing drives me crazy. It wasn't for the children, actually this toy is something a lot of men think is funny. I just think it is irritating. My husband originally asked for it after seeing a commercial. When we found it in a catalog that I often order from we couldn't pass it up at almost half the price. Even then I wasn't sure I would appreciate this item and now I know that it was a mistake to purchase it.
This fish is actually a plaque for the wall. It is meant to look like a stuffed fish but it falls a bit short of being realistic looking. The rubber fish can be activated by pushing a button or if the sensor picks up movement. Billy sings "Take Me to the River" and "Don't Worry, Be Happy" while moving his head and tail. His mouth opens and closes and is supposed to look like he is actually singing the words. Billy Bass comes with a name plate that can be engraved. It can be either hung on the wall or you can set it up using the built in stand on the back. The fish requires four C batteries and they are not included.
Billy isn't very entertaining to me but my children loved him. They were curious about how he worked. So, it became very hard to keep the fish away from the children. They would try to climb the furniture to mess with him. Once they got ahold of him and put their finger in his mouth while he was singing. Now my Billy's mouth doesn't open and close anymore. They also managed to break the stand off of the back of the plaque so I am unable to sit it and can only hang it on the wall. However, they haven't managed to stop the singing yet and that is the park I wish they would get rid of. The songs are annoying and I can't stand that every time I walk past he is singing them.
Of course he has a switch you can use to make him work only by touch but of course that wouldn't be as much fun for the man in your life. I am not sure what men and children see in this weird, singing fish but I can tell you that I don't like it. It isn't particularly attractive, it has no educational value, and it was easy for the children to tear up. In addition it sings those annoying songs. If you are interested in aggravating everyone who comes into your home this is a wonderful purchase otherwise you should save your money. If the fish had a better voice, more variety of songs, and a volume control then it might be a little better and more tolerable.
