Element 32" LCD TV--Worth Every Penny

I went after Christmas shopping with a friend of mine, to Circuit City. He had his mind set on the LG 52" plasma (which is what he bought) I was just jealous at the time and wanted a flat screen TV too. I got the cheapest TV in the 32" flat screen category. The Element 32" LCD is Circuit City's own gem. $549.99 is the regular price, and that's what I paid. Honestly, if you've got the cash, the Samsung LCD's looked better than my friends LG and better than my Element. BUT, Samsung 32" LCD on sale was $800 as opposed to $550 for the Element. Definately worth the difference to some people, but I had a serious budget to stick to.

We've had the Element TV now for about three weeks, and are very happy with it. There is a couple second delay when you turn it on or change the channels via remote control. I am not sure if this is going to happen with all LCD's or not, but it is evident with this one. The remote easily helps you find your preferred picture size: Normal, Full, Zoom and Wide screen. Also the picture mode: Hi-bright, Vivid, Cinema, Sport and "user"
The on-screen menu is easy to use and will help you further customize your screen. It's got all the basics and then some. Contrast, brightness, saturation, hue, sharpness, temperance, and noise reduction.
The sound is definately better than many of the higher priced models. Clear, and capable of getting LOUD. The remote allows you to find your custom sound using; bass, treble, balance, sound effect, MTS, SPDIF type, audio language, speaker, audio out controls.
There is also a passworded Parental controls section if you choose to use it.
Hooked up to cable TV, the quality will always be cable-tv quality. However, DVDs and video games are nearly flawless on this TV. It is especially good to note that LCD's are better than plasma TV's when it comes to gaming, because the image cannot be "burned" or embedded into the screen as with a plasma. I found LCD to be better all around, but that is another review altogether.
The buttons on this TV are located on the side. Different, but out of the way and easy to get used to. There are plenty of easily accessible AV and gaming jacks. We can plug our Ipod into it with no problem even though our TV is wall mounted.
