Pros:Delicious food and great service, lots of menu choices.
Cons:Crowded on weekends, booths are packed in pretty tight.
The Bottom Line: If you like Applebees, Fridays, or Chili's try Elephant Bar, it goes a step beyond.
One of my favorite chain restaurants to go to is The Elephant Bar. The food and service are always outstanding, the restaurant is perfect for families or just friends out for a good time.

Our local Elephant Bar is located at 6036 Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights, CA. Because it is located in the parking lot of the mall it can sometimes be difficult to find parking. Just pick a spot and walk, it's worth it.
When you enter The Elephant Bar you will immediately notice the fun theme of the restaurant. It is decorated in a Jungle kind of theme. A large rock is carved into the shape of an elephant behind the hostess station, it is dimly lit, their is a mixture of tables and booths (mostly booths) but you are sort of packed in. The booths are connected so if you are sitting in one booth, the booth in the next row is connected to you. This makes it feel like you are actually sitting with the other people, I don't like that.
The rest of the restaurant has the same jungle feel. Jungle print walls and floors. It's pretty loud in here, a good example of why your children will feel right at home and you won't feel like you're bothering everyone.
The menu at Elephant Bar resembles other chain restaurant menus, think Chili's and Applebees and then takes it a step further. There is a wide variety to choose from and the menu has new items added to it fairly regularly. Where other restaurants have mostly burgers, salads, and sandwiches, Elephant Bar has a much more extensive choice.
I like to go just for drinks and appetizers. They have a wonderful plate of Nachos that is heaped with tortilla chips, beans, lettuce, cheese, tomato and if you'd like you can get grilled chicken on it. I have had it both ways and it's fantastic. It is about $6.95 and there is plenty to share. Sometimes my husband and I will just go share some nachos and have a beer.
The appetizer menu is actually pretty extensive. There's Cajun Fried Shrimp, Artichoke Dip, Asian Chicken & Lettuce Wraps, Spring Rolls, and Garlic bread just to name a few. The prices on the Appetizer Menu range from $2.95 (garlic bread) to $10.95 (sampler tray).
If you're going for dinner you will find lots to choose from. For about $7.95 you can get a huge salad. I like the BBQ chicken or the Oriental Chicken salad which has roasted red peppers and mandarin oranges.
Most of the time I get one of the big salads or a sandwich. They also offer burgers, pizzas, chicken, pot roast, lamb, fajitas, cashew chicken (and other stir fry specialties), the list goes on and on. Their website boasts that they have 35 menu items that are $10 or less.
The service at Elephant Bar has always been great. It tends to get pretty crowded, especially on weekends. Plan to go early or call and see if your local restaurant takes reservations or call ahead seating. Once you arrive they give you a beeper and will call you when your table is ready. You can also sit in the bar, which is very nice, if you have time.
The people are always friendly and the food is always served in a timely manner. The food is always hot and fresh and I have never had any problems at this restaurant.
The restaurant is quite kid friendly. Because it is so casual and not at all quiet, kids will feel welcome. There is plenty for them to look at within the restaurant. They provide a kids menu which is shaped like the face of an animal (elephant, zebra, tiger) and kids can color it and then take it home to make a mask.
The kids menu ranges from $2.95-$3.50 and includes corn dogs, hamburgers, pasta, tacos, quesadilla, and chicken crispers. My kids love the food and atmosphere here. Drinks for kids are served in an animal cup, which they do not take home. For dessert a small ice cream sundae is included.
When you can't decide where to go Elephant Bar is a great choice. The menu has something for everyone. The food is outstanding as is the service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
