The Bottom Line: Need a really long gate that is stable and looks good too? Kidco Elongate! My dog doesn't touch the gate/fence. I wonder how well it works with kids.
We were moving into a new home and we wanted to set aside an area as our pup's home when we are out. He is a part of our family, maybe the center, and he deserves more than just a dog pen. So, we set aside a section of our 13.5' by 28' kitchen for Nevsky's personal use. He got eight feet of the full width of the kitchen. But now my problem was: How do I fence off Nevsky's 'room' without making the kitchen look horrible?

This very clean-looking white-enameled fence now stretches across* our kitchen, accomplishing a neat clean look, yet keeping Nevsky in his room when we are not home. Two washable upholstered porch chairs, a bed, and a table complete Nevsky's furnishings. The 13 foot gate sits an inch off the floor with no supports end-to-end. It proved to be very stable, one of my original concerns. All-in-all, a terrific buy that completely accomplished all of the manufacturers claims.
* We used three inch wood mounting posts attached to the wall on either side to make up the additional six inches that the gate, with four extensions, could not cover.
