Perfect!

Pros:great location, free hot made to order breakfast, nice views
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend Embassy Suites Chicago River East because of the great location and service.

We stayed twice (different months, one in the spring and another one was in the summer) in the Embassy Suites Chicago River East (the one on N. Columbus Drive). Both times was perfect. The rooms are large, with two television sets (one in the bedroom and one in the living room. The bedroom is big, with a nice wide window that has a great view (you can see a bit of Navy Pier and the great Chicago skyline). They provide you with an average sized microwave oven and a mini-refrigerator. They have a Manager's reception between 5:30 to 7:30 wherein you get free drinks and snacks at the lobby. The free made-to-order breakfast is a nice touch! The food is really good (unlike some free breakfasts you get at other hotels). The amenities include an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and a huge fitness center with a great view. When we stayed there the last time, the restaurant (P.J Clarke's) was still under construction but when we went last Memorial Day the restaurant /bar is open and filled with a lot of people. Their 21-theater movie complex has just opened too.
The Embassy Suites is very near the Navy Pier, around 2 blocks (there are free trolley rides to the Navy Pier right around the corner of Embassy Suites. There is a nearby Fox Creek food store and Dick's Landing restaurant right on the water. There is also a Japanese restaurant around a block away (It says SUSHI and Japanese restaurant on the glass door). We didn't try the Japanese restaurant but we did try the Dao Thai Restaurant which is actually a few minutes away from the Embassy Suites (around 3 blocks or so. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous, always ready to help us whenever we asked for directions, and they were very helpful in recommending good pizza places around town. Self parking is available but we usually get the valet parking since it has in and out privileges. Valet parking is 34 dollars. Our stay at the Embassy Suites was always very pleasant and I plan to stay there again soon.
