Pros: Cheap, easy to operate.
Cons: You get what you pay for.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a cheap, disposable VCR this one is for you. After owning two of these I would definitely recommend any other VCR.

| hacodaki's Full Review: Emerson EWV601 S-VHS VCR |
and 15 days after warranty has expired both units are useless. The first unit began to have poor playback quality within six months of purchase. I cleaned heads and adjusted tracking according to manufacturers troubleshooting instructions. This helped temporarily. Replacement by manufacturer under warranty provisions would cost $45.00 shipping, almost what I paid for the VCR originally. So I decided to deal with the intermittent poor playback quality since the other unit seemed to be doing fine. Gradually playback quality has gotten so bad that nothing I do can fix it. This comes and goes and I can't replicate the problem on cue. About a month before warranty expired the second unit began to exhibit problems when ejecting tape. Seemed to be not as smooth on eject as it had been previously. Yesterday it ate a tape. After I cut power it did eject the tape but now the whole "tape holding mechanism" seems to be out of alignment. Because it ruined the tape I hesitate to put in another. So today I am off to purchase another VCR. I will probably pay a little more and I doubt it will be an Emerson.
