When I saw the Weighted Cardio Core Hoop I thought it might be a great addition to my home gym when I don't go to the gym! I always thought hula hoops were fun and they are back in fashion.

This one is by Empower who tells us the Hoop will tone my entire body, strengthen my core, define my waistline and burn fat and calories all while having fun. I can buy all that. The act of swirling a hoop around my waist uses a lot of muscles - even my legs.
The Weighted Cardio Hoop weighs three pounds so it adds weight while working my core.
The whole hoop is padded in pretty colors so theoretically it is nice and comfy.
It comes with a DVD which shows me things I knew when I was five such as putting up my leg so the front of my foot is resting on the hoop as well as a couple of other tricks. Getting a DVD is a plus. The DVD itself is not.
In theory it is portable meaning that undoing the six pieces is easy.
Under the pretty padding is metal rather than plastic. I found the Cardio Hoop incredibly uncomfortable. So I tried and tried and never found it to be a tool I could or would use.
It costs $35, which is at least $20.00 more than it should cost.
It is huge measuring 42 inches in diameter. If you don't take it apart, you will have to find a place for it.
My husband was sitting next to me when I went to put this hoop together. The directions say that there are two buttons to press but there is only one. So while pressing this button I pushed that end into an end on another piece with an opening. To say it didn't go in easily is an understatement. My husband tried and couldn't do it without forcing it. He was reluctant to force the pieces together because he didn't think we could get them apart making returning the thing difficult. I didn't care. I could return it and let Dick's pull it apart.
In any case I read that someone didn't have the pieces in tightly and it went flying. Luckily that didn't happen to me hitting my new 54- inch TV!
I didn't take the Hula Hoop apart and am returning it as is. This, in my opinion, is a horrible product. It is terribly made and potentially dangerous.
