Batteries are a necessity, but a costly one at that. Having a busy household with 2 levels and 10 inhabitants (5 humans, 5 pets) means we seem to go through a lot of batteries. 3 of the humans are small children, and most of their toys and items we use seem to need some sort of battery.
After realizing we were paying a lot of money for batteries, having them be used up quickly, and then having to toss them away, we started looking at rechargeable batteries. First we priced them, and realized they were close to double what we'd pay for a regular pack. Then we priced a Battery Recharger, and found a family one for around $40.00. We felt we'd save money in the long run as we reused the same batteries over and over again .. and boy were we right!
We purchased these Energizer D Rechargeable Batteries for our baby swing. In the few months of life our girls seem to want to be in the swing a lot, and often it was the only thing to calm them down. And nothing stinks worse than to have the batteries go dead just as the baby is being soothed down. The swings take size D batteries, and we noticed every week to 10 days we were having to replace them with another set of batteries - another reason to try the Energizer D Rechargeable Batteries.
We bought one pack, and never had to purchase size D batteries again!
We paid around $10.00 for a pack of 2 batteries. These Energizer D Rechargeable Batteries come sealed on a cardboard blister pack. They are fairly easy to remove and ours were sold hang on an end cap at our local super center. They are marked with "green" colored packaging - I am guessing to fit in with the "environmentally-friendly" color. We chose this brand over any other because at the time we had purchased the Battery Charger from the same company, and were very familiar with how well regular Energizer batteries seemed to last.
Rechargeablebatteries have the advantage of just that, being recharged. We found the D size to be an exact fit as compared to the regular batteries. They were easy to recharge - simply pop them into our charger base. We used a trickle type charger and the same pack of D batteries lasted us the entire time our daughter was using the swing - I'd say 6 to 7 months. We noticed we'd have to recharge the batteries maybe 2 times a week? It depended on how often we used the baby swing, and we typically only had it on a few hours at a time daily. We've recharged and kept the batteries for the next time we need something in the D size.
Overall we've been pleased with the Energizer D Rechargeable Batteries. Since we've not needed many size D batteries in the house, we've not tried any other rechargeable batteries in this particular size to compare them to. But we have really felt we got a good value out of a brand name we trust.
