Enfamil ProSobee is an iron fortified soy formula designed for use during a baby's first year of life. It is available in ready to serve, concentrate and powdered form. Approximately 20% of the formula sold in the US is soy based. Eww..why soy?? , you ask. Most babies are on soy formula for one of two reasons. They have either had some form of allergic reaction to cow's milk or they are lactose intolerant. Symptoms of each can include, but are not limited to, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, rash, and abdominal distention with pain. Each condition's symptoms can overlap so a proper diagnosis from your pediatrician is highly recommended before making the switch to soy formula.

My Experience with Enfamil ProSobee
Though my daughter has only been on formula for a month or so, she did receive supplementation while breastfeeding. After suffering some ill effects from other brands of formula she was put on ProSobee. I prefer the powdered form and ,as with any formula, I find preparation quite simple. The 14 oz canister makes 100 fluid ounces of formula. I find it very convenient to be able to make up a quart-full in the morning, refrigerate, and then pour it into her bottle and heat it in a pan of hot water when she's ready to eat. (Always be sure to use prepared formula within 48 hours).

My daughter has had no adverse reactions to this formula as with other formula brands she has tried in the past so I feel very confident that we have made the right choice of formula for her.

Ahhem..not so fast folks. I couldn't write a complete review without giving you all of the cold hard facts about this product. Afterall, that would contradict the statement in my profile about me being a honest, straightforward person! ;-) Well, truthfully, the only 2 complaints I have about this product are the higher than average price and the awful smell. In my neck of the woods (aka the boonies), this product costs me $11.47 for the 14 oz canister. Compared to its competitors on the shelf next to it, that's a bit of a steep price to pay. Obviously this hasn't cause me too much grief because I buy it-and plan to continue doing so. As for the stench that this product so mightily emits-it's that uniform 'soy stank' but it's one of those things that you get used to very quickly. My daughter doesn't seem to mind it (though she probably doesn't know any better at this point!)
