This mattress makes you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. You literally have NO, and I mean NO, pressure points. I had heard about this mattress for a long time, my chiropractor swore there was nothing out there better...not Select Comfort and not even Tempur-Pedic! The store I went to had about four models to lay on and try and they were all so great, I had a hard time choosing! So I went with the top of the line, thinking that this would be the last mattress I purchase, and I know I made the right decision. I've had the mattress for about a year and I've never made a better purchase. I'D SELL MY CAR BEFORE I'D GET RID OF MY MATTRESS! I would recommend this mattress for any consumer, no matter what body frame, no matter what budget. The store had 100% Natural Laytex Mattresses starting at $999 for a Queen size.
Unlike the Tempur-Pedic, which I experienced in an in home (not so free) trial, I don't have a hard time rolling from my back to my side. In the Englander mattress, I can move freely where in the Tempur-Pedic I felt like I was stuck in a hole. Plus, the Englander mattress isn't temperature sensitive like the Tempur-Pedic, which in cold climates or in bedrooms kept cold can be a HUGE issue, unless you like sleeping on a rock! Instead of man-made foam inside Englander's mattress, it has a 100% Natural 6" latex core, with 2 more inches of latex on top of it, and a small amount of dacron/cotton quilting. The total mattress is about 14" in depth. I was concerned that this would be an issue when purchasing bedding, but there are buttons called "Sheet Connectors" on each corner in order to hold your bedding onto the mattress until it is time to change the sheets. You simply unbutton the connector and change the sheets.
Spring mattresses are terrible, air mattresses are too much work, and everyone who ever had a futon knows that foam mattresses break down. There is NO BETTER MATTRESS SELECTION THAN ENGLANDER LATEX!
As I understand it, ALL Englander Laytex mattresses have a 15 year NON-PRORATED warranty, meaning that if any defect should surface, there would be no out of pocket expense to have the mattress evaluated and repaired or replaced. I purchased a model that had no need for flipping or turning, but there were a couple of models that did need to be flipped and turned. The company I purchased from recommended that the mattress go on top of a platform foundation opposed to a boxspring foundation. My platform doesn't have any spring inside it, it is a solid wooden foundation which helps alleviate body impressions and allows the mattress to be turn free. The mattress today looks just like it did when I first purchased it! I own a dog and during my "linen day" he jumped on the bed and tracked a couple of muddy footprints on the off-white cover (which is different depending on which model is purchased)and I was able to get it off easily with a Woolite spray bottle, a clean rag, and about 5 minutes total of scrubbing...and it looked perfect. The cover is extremely durable.
The mattress came in every size available, even custom sizing for those who have RV's and such that have odd sized mattresses. In fact, these mattresses would be perfect for a Recreational Vehicle since it would have the ability to directly on top of the platform factory installed in the unit! But the store assured me that even if I wanted an unheard of sizing in this mattress, the factory would make it no questions asked.
For allergy sufferers, this is the mattress line for you! Englander had a mattress selection the was 100% natural, even the cover was 100% cotton! But even the mattresses that had a polyester or damask cover, this mattress is hypo-allergenic and dust mite resistant. A misconception that I heard was that if you're allergic to latex, you can be allergic to this mattress. I pursued this concern with my physician and he assured me that this only applied to SYNTHETIC latex, not naturally cured latex like what is in the Englander mattresses.
So there is really no negative part of this mattress. It's comfortable, durable, backed by an incredible warranty, and it's natural! Even going beyond those features, the mattress fits for any body frame, especially since there were several models to choose from. Any of us who suffer from even the slightest allergies could benefit from this mattress and it's natural solution.
