Dietary Supplement for Diabetics (Reply to this comment)

The only Dietary Supplement for Diabetics that I heard really works is "Sugar Crush" sold by NaturEra. It is backed by research accepted by ADA. Its a liquid dietary supplement you add to water at mealtime and it reduces glucose levels.

Thank you, I just found out I have pre-diabetes and I bought my first pack of Glucerna shakes. The information on the packaging doesn't really let me know how it controls blood sugar and it does not really seem that different from the stats on the Slimfast low carb shakes, but your essay has really filled in the blanks and answered a lot of my questions. Cheers, Leslie

As a diabetic I found this review to be most helpful. I'll have to ask my doctor what he thinks of this product before I try it, though.

I've never tasted these (Reply to this comment)

Not even last year when I was on chemo. A dietitian I know advised me not to. I make a point of not tasting the formulas I feed to the babies in the NICU, so I can't criticize you for not tasting this stuff. Some editorial comments from your patients might be interesting, though.

I did at the request of a patient who dared me errr.. asked me to, and I had to agree with her...it tasted pretty bad. No substitute for the real thing, according to my patient. Nice justification , though, even if it isn't an OTC item. Jude
